Borrell reaffirms EU's support to Ukraine as FMs meet in Kyiv

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell reaffirmed the EU's support for Ukraine as the EU's foreign ministers met in Kyiv on Monday, saying that "giving Ukraine EU membership is the strongest security commitment."

Borrell said overarching support for Ukraine from security perspective, the EU accession and reform process, and a formula for peace has been discussed.

Borrell on Monday also proposed to Ukraine a new bilateral multi-annual envelope of the European peace facility of up to 5 billion euros  ($5.26 billion) for the next year.

"I hope we can reach an agreement before the end of the year", he also said at a joint press briefing in Kyiv with Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
