Chinese athletes won 14 of the 29 gold medals awarded at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Monday. They bagged both the golds and the silvers in multiple events.

Li Yajie and Lin Shan had an exciting contest in the diving women's 1-meter springboard final. Lin was leading in each of the first three rounds, but Li beat her by 6.3 and 9.1 points in the fourth and the fifth dive respectively, coming back to win the title.

Two Chinese divers, Wang Zongyuan and Peng Jianfeng, met in the men's 1-meter springboard final as well. Wang led in every round, but not by much. It was Peng's fierce pursuit that forced the best performance out of Wang.

Zhu Xueying and Hu Yicheng of China faced off against each other in the trampoline gymnastics final too. Zhu edged Hu by as little as 0.93 points.

Two of the world's top table tennis players, Fan Zhendong and Wang Chuqin of China, played each other in the men's singles final. After seven fierce games, Wang defeated Fan to claim the gold. The score differences of the first three games were no bigger than two in all of the first three games.

Xiong Shiqi made home supporters proud from the field. She set a personal best (PB) by reaching 6.73 meters in the women's long jump final to win the gold. Silver medalist Ancy Sojan Edappilly of India and bronze medalist Yue Nga-yan of China's Hong Kong both set PBs as well.

China's Li Ling won the women's pole vault title while setting a new Asian Games record at 4.63 meters. She broke her own record from the last edition of Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2018.

Kim Il Gyong of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea broke the world record of the weightlifting women's 59-kilogram group to win the title in Hangzhou, She set new records of in snatch and clean-and-jerk with 111 kilograms and 135 kilograms respectively, and set a new total lift record of 245 kilograms.

Kim's teammate Rim Un Sim dominated the women's 64-kilogram weight class by setting the new Asian Games record of 111 kilograms in the snatch, 140 kilograms in the clean-and-jerk and finishing with a total of 251 kilograms.

In the final gold match on Monday, China came back to beat Mongolia 2-1 in the Esports Dota 2 event to win the gold. Having faced tough situations early in each of the three matches, China managed to stay in the game until the turning point. The final game took the teams over an hour, but together they created one of the most dramatic Esports matches at the Asian Games.
