Chinese female gymnasts entered the final a day ago with the third place in the qualification round, which secured them the event's berth at next year's Paris Olympics.
The women's team final is set to take place later on Wednesday.
China's male gymnasts advanced to the final with a scare, as they finished the qualification round ranked eighth to avoid elimination, during which Shi Cong's injury worsened.
Lin, who had just finished competing in the Hangzhou Asian Games with three medals, flew in right after his personal campaign at the Asiad to take Shi's place in the final.
"We struggled a lot after underperforming in the qualification round and went through some changes. We're happy about the final's result," said You, Tokyo Olympic silver medalist.
The tournament runs until October 8, with the individual all-around finals and apparatus finals taking place after the conclusion of team events.
