Baltimore police said on Wednesday that five people suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds after a shooting at Morgan State University in the U.S. state of Maryland on Tuesday night.

Police said officers were on the scene for an "active shooter situation" around 9:30 p.m. and put into place a shelter-in-place order, which was lifted early Wednesday.

According to U.S. media, the gunfire shattered windows at a residential building at the university that's on the same block as a city police station.

The victims, four males and one female, were of ages 18 to 22. Morgan State Police Chief Lance Hatcher said four of them are students at the university.

The police have not located a suspect or made any arrests yet.
