Intricate carvings drew visitors during China's National Day holiday to the Beijing Stone Carving Art Museum, an institution housing over 2,600 cultural relics. Located in the grounds of the Zhengjue Temple dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the museum opened in 1987 with the aim of collecting stone carving antiques from across Beijing. A stone's throw from Beijing Zoo, visitors can admire the Vajrasana Pagoda – or diamond throne pagoda – here, so named for its five pagodas erected on a square foundation. The structure fuses Indian elements with traditional Chinese architecture and carving art.
