Carrying around a scented pouch, or fragrant sachets, has been a cultural custom in China since ancient times. The sachets, mainly sewn with silk, are typically filled with aromatic herbs known for their pleasant fragrance, insect-repellent properties, and an ability to ward off evil spirits. In "Yaji: Asia unveiled," a television special produced by CGTN, host Julian Waghann introduced the cultural value of scented silk pouches to Asian guests. He gave one to Mustakim from Tajikistan as a gift, which beautifully matched the hanfu costume he was wearing.
