At least 20 people were killed and 50 injured after multiple earthquakes struck western Afghanistan on Saturday, a disaster management official from Herat Province told China Media Group.
Additionally, 150 to 200 houses were destroyed, the official added.
The quake registered a magnitude of 6.3, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said, with subsequent quakes striking 35 km northwest of the city of Herat.
The GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences reported two magnitude-6.2 earthquakes struck northwestern Afghanistan at 0641 and 0712 GMT on Saturday, respectively.
