The volunteers at the 19th Asian Games have a nickname – the little green lotus. That is in reference to the color of their uniforms. With passion and patience, the "little green lotus" staff have been dedicated to building friendships with guests from around the world. CGTN's Zhao Yunfei follows a volunteer from Taiwan.

When spectators are enjoying the competition at the Asian Games, volunteers are behind the scenes. This video went viral online showing the volunteers hiding behind the fence in the interview zone. This is Shih Yen-hao. Friends call him the Hulk. He says physical strength is not the only requirement for the job as a volunteer.

SHIH YEN-HAO, Volunteer, 19th Asian Games "I am not very extroverted, I have found a more suitable way to express myself. If you welcome others with a smile, others will respond with a smile."

Yen-hao is from Taiwan. When the Chinese Taipei Delegation entered the stadium at the opening ceremony, he was working outside, hearing the cheers from the crowd.

SHIH YEN-HAO, Volunteer, 19th Asian Games "I wish I could see that. Although we have seen rehearsals and performances before, the atmosphere on that day was definitely much more exciting. I could only watch live on my phone or TV."

Yen-hao is just one of 37-thousand volunteers who've worked tirelessly, and sometimes made sacrifices during the Games.

WANG JIE, Director, Department of Volunteers, Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee "For every volunteer, being able to participate in a large-scale international event like the Asian Games is a rare opportunity to learn and improve. It could help them to broaden their international horizons."

ZHAO YUNFEI, Hangzhou "Many volunteers have had the chance to experience the Asian Games in a unique and memorable way. And organizers say they've been vital to the success of the competition. Zhao Yunfei, CGTN, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province."
