The United Nations has called for restraint from both Israel and Palestine and emphasized that civilians must never be the target of attack. The UN Security Council will hold consultations on Sunday to discuss the situation. Egypt says it is in talks with Saudi Arabia and Jordan in a bid to defuse tensions between Israel and Palestine. Also on Saturday, the Sudanese and Iraqi governments voiced support for the Palestinian people. Iraq also called on the Arab League to convene urgently to discuss the situation in the Palestinian territories.
