Local disaster relief authorities said the death toll from a magnitude-6.3 earthquake in western Afghanistan has risen to about 120. It also said more than 1,000 others have been injured. The quake struck around noon on Saturday. The United States Geological Survey says the epicenter was 40 kilometers northwest of the region's largest city Herat, and was followed by eight aftershocks.
