Chinese firms have been integral to the construction of two hydroelectric dams, called Néstor Kirchner and Jorge Cepernic, in Argentina's Patagonia region. Francisco A. Taiana, director of the International Cooperation Department of the Argentine Ministry of Culture, explains that the BRI can be an engine for Latin American integration. He says, "Integration needs to be not only political and institutional but must also have a physical aspect to join these countries together."
