Japan-born female giant panda Xiang Xiang met the public in southwest China's Sichuan Province on October 8 after quarantine and examination.

The footage, released by the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP) on multimedia platform iPanda on Sunday, shows the adorable creature leisurely eating bamboo in the Ya'an Bifeng Valley Base.

Xiang Xiang was born on June 12, 2017 to mother Xian Nv and father Bi Li, named Shin Shin and Ri Ri in Japan, through natural mating at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. She has been a major attraction for visitors and the local community ever since. The panda returned to China in February this year under an ownership agreement between the two countries and underwent quarantine and examination before being qualified to make a public appearance.

The CCRCGP is a world-leading institution for the preservation and reproduction of pandas and reintroduction of the animal into the wild. At present, the institution has carried out cooperation with 18 zoos in 16 countries and regions and 39 animal breeding institutions and more than 10 scientific research institutes in China.
