The Israeli military said on Tuesday that it had found around 1,500 bodies of Hamas fighters in Israel around the Gaza Strip. The statement was made as Israel continued its intensifying air strikes on the Palestinian enclave.

"Approximately 1,500 bodies of Hamas militants were found in Israel around the Gaza Strip," military spokesperson Richard Hecht told reporters, adding that security forces had "more or less restored control over the border" with Gaza.

Hamas has not yet responded to this assertion.
