The China Coast Guard on Tuesday took necessary measures to drive away a Philippine naval vessel intruding in the waters near China's Huangyan Island in the South China Sea, a spokesperson for the China Coast Guard said.
The measures were taken after repeated dissuasion and warnings from the China Coast Guard had been ignored by the Philippine side and were professional and legitimate, spokesperson Gan Yu added.
China urged the Philippines to immediately stop its infringement and vowed to continue to carry out rights protection and law enforcement activities in waters under China's jurisdiction in accordance with the law.
