A powerful magnitude-6.3 quake followed by strong aftershocks killed over 2,000 people in Herat province, western Afghanistan, on Saturday. Locals described their terror as buildings collapsed around them. Rescue teams have worked through the night trying to find survivors trapped under the rubble.
