A powerful magnitude-6.3 quake followed by strong aftershocks in western Afghanistan killed more than 2,400 people on Saturday. According to local authorities, the most affected area is Zanda Jan district in Herat, where many villages have been "utterly destroyed," and over 9,000 people were injured.
