The United Kingdom and Ireland will host the UEFA European Championship in 2028 while Italy and Turkey will host the tournament in 2032, the European football governing body announced on Tuesday.
The top football tournament for national teams in Europe will take place in England, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales in 2028. It will be the first time Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Wales will host it. England and Scotland did it in 2021 along with nine other countries.

Twenty-five years before that, England alone held the Euros and finished third place after losing to Germany in a penalty shoot-out in the semifinals. Gareth Southgate, manager of the Three Lions today, missed the team's final penalty in that game. It was England's second-best record in the Euros and they did it twice, in 1968 and 1996.
Two years ago, England made the final in the tournament, but lost to Italy at Wembley Stadium. Once again, over penalties.

Italy was one of the hosts for the Euros in 2021. They hosted the tournament themselves twice before that, in 1968 and 1980. The Gli Azzurri won the title twice, first in 1968 and then 2021. They were also the runners-up in 2000 and 2012.
Türkiye has never hosted the Euros. They participated in the tournament five times, beginning in 1996. The team advanced to the knockout stage twice and set their best record in 2008 by going to the semifinals where they lost to Germany.
Euro 2024 will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024.
