Zheng Qinwen recorded her first tour-level win on home soil Monday with a 6-4, 6-3 defeat over Ukraine's Kateryna Volodko in the opening round of the Zhengzhou Open in China.

The 21-year-old Chinese tennis player struck 11 aces, lost one point (20 of 21) on her first serve and converted 5 of 12 break chances in the match that lasted one hour and 24 minutes. She will face third-seeded Maria Sakkari of Greece in the second round.

Zheng clinched the women's singles tennis title during the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, on September 29.

The Women's Tennis Association 500 event in Zhengzhou, central China's Henan Province, runs from October 9 to 15, with the prize money amounting to $780,637.

Other Chinese players include Zhu Lin and Bai Zhuoxuan in the singles and Chinese duo Jiang Xinyu and Guo Hanyu in the doubles, along with China's Zhu Lin and her Italian pair Lucia Bronzetti.
