Back in 2021, Pakistani Muhammad Wasim Asim was among a group of participants in the Global Young Leaders Dialogue who wrote to Xi Jinping, describing their lives in China and their experiences of China's development. When they received a reply from the Chinese president, Muhammad "felt incredibly proud." He remembers in particular one phrase the president wrote, "Happiness is achieved through hard work." The Belt and Road Initiative, he says, gives him new opportunities.
