Flame for Hangzhou Asian Para Games lit in Guangzhou
Hangzhou Asian Para Games flame was lit in Guangzhou in south China’s Guangdong Province, on Thursday, ahead of the 4th edition of the Games due to take place in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province, from October 22 to 28.
The torch relay will start on October 19, as the opening ceremony is set to take place on October 22, when the main torch will be ignited.
On Thursday, the torchbearer ascended the steps and lit a torch from a flame holder before igniting the lantern, which will be transported from Guangzhou, the host city of the inaugural Asian Para Games in 2010, to Hangzhou on high-speed railway escorted by personnel from the organizing committee.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Chinese delegation announced a 439-athlete roster for the Games, as they are set to compete in 397 events across all 22 sports.
