On January 20, 1502, Portuguese explorer Cabral stumbled upon Guanabara Bay and named it the "River of January," which we now know as Rio de Janeiro. With the growing partnership between China and Brazil, the city is now even more deeply connected to the Belt and Road Initiative, becoming a significant participant in its expansion into Latin America.
