On Thursday, Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, confirmed that Damascus and Aleppo airports in Syria are now unavailable, causing a temporary disruption to UN humanitarian air services. Dujarric reiterated that UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on relevant parties to avoid attacks that may harm people and damage civilian infrastructure, strongly condemned all violent activities in Syria, called on all parties to respect their obligations under international law, and reiterated that civilians and civilian facilities must be protected in accordance with international humanitarian law.
