European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on social media on Friday that she had arrived in Israel with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola.

Their visit is to express their "solidarity with the Israeli people in the wake of the horrific Hamas terrorist attack," von der Leyen said on social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
