Chenjiagou is known as the birthplace of Tai Chi, a martial art practiced for self-defense and health benefits. The Chen family resides here and created the Chen-style Thai Chi, which is characterized by silk reeling, alternating fast and slow motions, and bursts of power.
The village in central China's Henan Province recently welcomed a group of practitioners from South American countries, including Chile, Brazil, Argentina, and other countries. Alberto Catalan, the head of the team, says after years of promotion, Tai Chi has gained an increasing number of practitioners overseas resulting in him leading this group of 31 people, including the practitioners and their families, on a visit to Chenjiagou.
