Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee, has inspected Jiujiang, Jingdezhen and Shangrao, in eastern China's Jiangxi Province this week. During his visit, President Xi stressed the importance of high-quality development and encouraged the preservation and promotion of traditional culture. Sun Tianyuan brings you the story.

SUN TIANYUAN Jiujiang "Cultural development has been one of the focal points of President Xi Jinping's inspection of Jiangxi Province. His first stop was at a section of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park in the city of Jiujiang on Tuesday."

During his visit, President Xi learned about the local community's contributions to the building of the national park and the ongoing work in restoring the ecology along the Yangtze River shoreline.

WANG JIANCE Former Curator of Jiujiang Museum "I'm honored and delighted to have received him. President Xi's visit was pragmatic. And I feel he's a man of the people. In our future work, we must further protect the Yangtze River's ecology and promote the historic and cultural value of the park."

The building of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park began in 2021. It's now attracting attention, as more visitors explore the site following President Xi's visit.

"We heard about President Xi's visit so we came here. Although we didn't get a chance to see him in person, I'm still quite happy. The city is so nice."

President Xi's next stop in Jiangxi was Jingdezhen, a city with more than 2,000 years of ceramic-making history.

SUN TIANYUAN Jingdezhen "I'm at Taoyangli, a historical and cultural block in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China. On Wednesday, President Xi visited here to learn about the preservation and inheritance of porcelain making."

Porcelain is one of the most iconic Chinese products, with a history spanning over thousands of years. Trade along the Ancient Silk Road spread the art of fire and clay around the world, and this fine ware continues to make headlines.

President Xi has, on many occasions, stressed the importance of carrying forward traditional culture. He called it the essence of Chinese civilization and the root and soul of the Chinese nation.

ZHANG MAOSHENG Porcelain Craftsman "President Xi highly values our work. He came to see my workshop and said it's important to carry on the traditional craft from generation to generation."

XIONG HONGHUA General Manager Jingdezhen Porcelain Culture and Tourism "It's an honor to have heard President Xi's instructions on the protection and inheritance of ceramic culture. We'll continue to work according to his blueprint and contribute our strength to future endeavors."

In addition to cultural development, President Xi's visit to Jiangxi focused on the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, rural revitalization and ecological protection. Sun Tianyuan, CGTN, Jingdezhen, Jiangxi Province.
