A demonstration project for hybrid rice in southwest China's Sichuan Province announced a remarkable single-season yield of 1251.5 kg per mu (about 0.067 hectares) after an on-site inspection by experts on Saturday.
The project is located in Dechang County, within the Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan. This region enjoys favorable light and temperature conditions, substantial day-night temperature differences, good water quality and ideal circumstances for the accumulation of organic materials in rice.
The demonstration field covers a total area of 110 mu (about 7.3 hectares). A team led by the Association of Agricultural Science Society of central China's Hunan Province randomly selected three rice fields for mechanical harvesting and average yield calculation.
