Kristalina Georgieva, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), said on Saturday that the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) could be "another source of uncertainty" for the global economy.

However, the IMF chief said that she, along with other IMF officials, believes that it is "too early" to ascertain the conflict's impact on the global economy.

She also noted that the attack on innocent civilians is a "tragedy," expressing her hope for the return of peace.

Georgieva made the remarks during the World Bank Group and IMF annual meetings, which kicked off Monday in Marrakech, Morocco, and runs through Sunday.
