White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said in a CNN interview on Sunday that Israeli officials have informed him that water pipes in southern Gaza have been turned back on.
Israel has cut vital supplies including water, electricity and foodstuffs to the residents of the Gaza Strip after Hamas launched a surprise and rare operation against it on October 7.
Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz later confirmed the information, saying the decision was agreed on between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Joe Biden and was in line with Israeli policy, which is to tighten a blockade on the Hamas-ruled territory.
