Meanwhile, Qin Haiyang and Dong Zhihao achieved a 1-2 finish in the men's 200m breaststroke final, clocking 2:08.05 and 2:09.18.

Zhang rounded up her campaign in Athens with two golds and one silver, while Qin, who emerged as a dominant force in the breaststroke event this year, pocketed all breaststroke gold medals as he did before in the World Championships in Fukuoka, Chengdu Universiade, Hangzhou Asian Games, and the first leg of the World Cup in Berlin.

Zhang went into the final ranked 4th from the qualifying round, as she faced world record holder Sarah Sjostrom again, after the Swedish veteran beat Zhang by 0.52 seconds in the 50m final a day ago.

She won the 200m butterfly final on the opening day in 2:06.73.

Team China registered the three swimmers to compete in the World Cup series across Berlin, Athens and Budapest, gearing up for the Paris Olympics set to take place next summer.

The Chinese squad finished their campaign at the Hangzhou Asian Games with 28 golds, 21 silvers and nine bronzes to top their historical best at the event.
