Besides Colombo, Kandy is also an important tourism and cultural destination in Sri Lanka. Located in the country's Central Province, Kandy is the second-largest city in the country, known as the "last capital of the kingdom." China and Sri Lanka have enjoyed a long history of friendly relations. The famous Chinese monk Fa Xian traveled to Sri Lanka in 410 AD. And in the 15th century, the Chinese navigator Zheng He traveled along the ancient Maritime Silk Road and landed in Sri Lanka on five occasions. Today, people can retrace this history by viewing the Trilingual Stele of Zheng He, which is held permanently on display at the Colombo National Museum.
