A global survey conducted by China Media Group (CMG) CGTN and Renmin University of China (RUC) through the New Era International Communication Research Institute shows that 93.8 percent of the respondents from the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) participating countries highly appreciate the fruitful results achieved in the past 10 years.
According to the survey, 92.2 percent of respondents from the participating countries believe that a well-developed infrastructure is a prerequisite for realizing economic development.
In the past decade of BRI cooperation, the construction of infrastructure has significantly improved people's lives. A total of 86.9 percent of respondents from participating countries believe that the infrastructure construction of their countries has benefited from the BRI cooperation. And 84.9 percent of the respondents from the participating countries believe that the BRI has put their countries' development on a fast track.
Under the BRI cooperation, many projects have solved urgent problems for the local people and improved their daily lives, increasing their sense of gain, fulfillment and security.
As many as 85 percent of respondents from participating countries found that BRI cooperation has effectively improved their lives, and 85 percent of respondents believe that through the BRI cooperation, people have gained more opportunities for communication and mutual learning with the outside world.
Besides, 83.5 percent, 74.8 percent and 73.8 percent of respondents from participating countries, respectively, recognized the BRI cooperation's role in promoting employment, increasing locals' income, and eradicating poverty.
And 86.5 percent of respondents from participating countries believe that the BRI highly reflects the concept of people-centeredness. The vision of benefiting people around the world is gradually becoming a reality.
According to the survey, China's debt relief for the BRI participating countries was highly recognized by the respondents. Among the respondents, 83 percent of them believe that this move reflects China's sense of responsibility and commitment.
China has made great contributions to the development of less advanced regions. 85 percent of respondents from participating countries believe the BRI follows the historical trend of a win-win cooperation and look forward to greater cooperation with China through the BRI.
In addition, 84 percent of respondents believe that the BRI's principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits is highly compatible with the inherent needs of the brand new international order. They expect China to play a greater role in global governance.
The global poll was conducted among 3,857 respondents from 35 countries, including Serbia, Hungary, South Africa, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Brazil, and other BRI participating countries at different levels of development.
