Jiri Paroubek, the former prime minister of the Czech Republic, recently arrived in Beijing to attend the third Belt and Road Forum. Hoping to surprise his family and staff with exquisite gifts from China, he visited the capital's renowned Silk Street Market.

Mr. Paroubek bought silk pajamas and exquisite silk hand-painted bags in the Chinese style for his daughter. He also bought silk scarves for his wife. The silk scarves he chose featured motifs from the murals at the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes.

Mr. Paroubek said he enjoys Chinese tea culture. Among the various types of Chinese tea, green tea and white tea are his favorites, so he was keen not to miss out on some Chinese tea products during his trip.

At the Silk Street Market, he was thrilled to buy a hand-painted blue and white porcelain tea set from Jingdezhen and another elaborate porcelain teacup from Hangzhou before wrapping up his shopping trip.
