China is willing to continue to enhance mutual support on the path of realizing modernization and national rejuvenation with Indonesia and promote the long-term and steady growth of bilateral relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday.

Xi made the remarks while meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who is in Beijing to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and pay an official visit to China.

Noting that Indonesia is the place where he first proposed the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Xi said that over the past 10 years, China and Indonesia have been following the principle of achieving shared growth through discussion and collaboration, making joint efforts in promoting development and delivering huge benefits to the people of the two countries.

He also hailed the cooperation between the two countries as an important example of international cooperation in building the Belt and Road.

China stands ready to work with Indonesia to continue to view and develop bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, making good use of the existing mechanisms to deepen all-round strategic cooperation and enhancing mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, said Xi.

Hailing the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway as a "golden brand" for the Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries, Xi said China is willing to work with Indonesia to sum up successful experience, make sound efforts in its high-quality operation and foster an economic belt along the railway.

China supports relevant localities and enterprises to take part in major development projects in Indonesia, such as its new capital and the North Kalimantan Industrial Park, and is willing to continue to increase the import of Indonesia's high-quality agricultural and fishery products, expand and strengthen cooperation in emerging industries such as digital economy, photovoltaics and new energy vehicles, Xi said.

The Chinese president called on both sides to champion open regionalism and fulfill the responsibilities of major developing countries to jointly promote the reform of the global governance system and safeguard international fairness and justice.

Widodo said Indonesia sees China as an important strategic partner in its national economic development and looks forward to further strengthening communication and cooperation with China, enhancing mutual trust and developing closer relations, which will not only benefit the two peoples but also contribute to regional peace and prosperity.

Indonesia stands ready to work with China to build a high-quality Belt and Road, he said, welcoming more Chinese enterprises to participate in the construction of its new capital and the North Kalimantan Industrial Park.

Commending a series of initiatives proposed by President Xi, Widodo vowed to help achieve common development of the region and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly unveiled the official opening of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway and witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents in fields such as coordination mechanisms for Belt and Road cooperation, implementation of the Global Development Initiative, rural development and poverty reduction, as well as sustainable development.

The two sides issued a joint statement on deepening all-round strategic cooperation.

The two heads of state acknowledged the current strong momentum of the development of the China-Indonesia comprehensive strategic partnership and emphasized that both nations are major developing countries and significant emerging economies, both upholding the people-centered philosophy of development, respecting each other's ideas, sharing extensive common interests, a similar phase of development and a closely connected future, according to the statement.

Both sides expressed determination to constantly deepen strategic trust and advance practical cooperation in various areas by using the China-Indonesia High-level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism as the prime coordinating platform and giving full play to the role of the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation.

Both sides agreed to establish the 2+2 dialogue mechanism for foreign and defense ministers and further expand high-level channels for strategic communication and dialogue platforms for political, defense and security cooperation.

Congratulating the completion and opening to traffic of the Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway with high quality and high standards, both sides will continue to build on the further synchronization of their development strategies and inject continuous impetus into broadening and deepening cooperation that benefits the two peoples and region, said the statement.

The two sides will jointly advance the construction of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" and work on more "small yet smart" projects that promote economic development and benefit the people, it said, adding that China and Indonesia will strengthen cooperation in sustainable development, promote industrial upgrading, and jointly safeguard food security and accelerate energy transitions.
