Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea James Marape on Tuesday in Beijing. Marape is in China's capital to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and pay an official visit to the country.

Xi said that under the new circumstances, China is willing to work with Papua New Guinea to take this visit by Prime Minister James Marape as an opportunity to continue the two countries' everlasting friendship, consolidate political mutual trust and expand areas of cooperation to bring benefits to the two peoples.
