China adheres to common development and narrows the digital divide, said Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, on Wednesday.
Cai made the remarks when attending a high-level forum on the digital economy, a part of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF) held in Beijing.
Cai emphasized that the digital economy has become an important engine for promoting global economic development and change.
He urged for the promotion of opening up and cooperation, expanding connectivity, adhering to innovation-driven development and enhancing growth momentum.
He also called on the world to stay true to multilateralism and improve global governance.
China will adhere to the path of peaceful development, promote the construction of the Digital Silk Road and utilize digital economic development to improve livelihoods, he said.
