China firmly opposes U.S. inclusion of Chinese companies on the export control "entity list" and restrictions on the export of AI-related chips and semiconductor manufacturing equipment to China, a spokesperson from the Chinese Commerce Ministry said on Wednesday, adding that China will take necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

The spokesperson said the U.S. continuously generalizes the concept of national security, abuses export control measures and implements unilateral bullying after it issued the final rules of export control on semiconductors to China on Tuesday, which is based on the interim rules issued on October 7, 2022.

The semiconductor industry is highly globalized, the spokesperson said, adding that Washington's improper controls have hindered trade in chips, equipment, materials and components among countries, undermined market rules and international economic and trade order, and threatened the stability of the global industrial and supply chains.

The U.S. should lift the export controls as soon as possible to create a fair, just, and predictable environment for Chinese and global companies and work with all parties to build a safe and mutually beneficial global industrial supply chain system, the spokesperson stressed.
