The Islamic Resistance of Iraq claimed responsibility for the missile attack on American forces in the Conoco gas field northeast of Deir ez-Zor in Syria, Al Mayadeen reported on Thursday.
Apart from the missile attack, a drone attack on the Al-Tanf base was also reported near Syria's borders with Iraq and Jordan.
The Iraqi armed group aligned with Iran has threatened to target U.S. interests with missiles and drones if Washington intervenes to support Israel in its conflict with Hamas in Gaza.
U.S. military forces in Iraq were targeted on Wednesday in two separate drone attacks, with one causing minor injuries to a small number of troops.
