Ghada Waly, the Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, spoke to Zheng Yibing about the global impact of the Belt and Road Initiative. Take a listen.

ZHENG YIBING, CGTN Reporter "Thank you so much for receiving our interview. So, what kind of role do you think the Belt and Road Initiative has played in achieving the anti-corruption goals by the United Nations?"

GHADA WALY, Executive Director, The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime "The Belt and Road Initiative is in its 10th anniversary, and it's a good opportunity that it's coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the UNCAC. It has been a huge project that is having a lot to do with the implementation of the SDGs. And when it comes to integrity, the idea that the Belt and Road has an integrity forum that we are attending today and has a number of integrity initiatives under the Belt and Road Initiative has been very helpful to countries to address corruption. We have worked in 16 countries. We have helped more than 300 practitioners receive capacity building and training to be able to address corruption in the countries and in the projects that they work in. And these are countries on the Belt and Road initiative."

ZHENG YIBING, CGTN Reporter "What do you think the forum this year? Any outlook after this forum?"

GHADA WALY, Executive Director, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime "This forum in and of itself is a very good opportunity for countries to come together, exchange best practices and discuss initiatives that is the mutual legal assistance. Then it is the legislation side of things. How can countries work together to improve legislation, collaboration, and investigation, sharing information, supporting asset recovery. So, there's a whole set of activities that countries can discuss and can learn from each other. It is a commitment to multilateralism and an opportunity for a dialogue between countries addressing integrity challenges."
