It's less than a week until the 4th Asian Paralympic Games. The torch relay kicked off on Thursday in Hangzhou. Our Zhang Siran has more.
ZHANG SIRAN, Hangzhou "This is the starting point for the Fourth Asian Para Games Torch Relay. It's right next to Thousand Islands Lake in Hangzhou, and from here the torch will be carried by around 600 bearers across five locations in the city."
14-year-old Zheng Zimo is the youngest torchbearer and a para Taekwondo gold medalist. She is sending her best wishes to the event by a special pose to pass on the torch.
ZHENG ZIMO, Torchbearer, Para Taekwondo Gold Medalist "Thanks to Taekwondo, I will never give up when facing difficulties. Now I'm more open to trying new things. To pass on the relay, I've decided to show the V-sign as it stands for victory. I hope the Para Games will be a great success and wish all the athletes to be their own champion."
The torchbearers say the relay also passes on the sporting spirit.
CUI YUTAO, Torchbearer, Para Ice Hockey Champion "The development of sport is the basis of a strong nation. On the one hand, the sporting spirit is the competitiveness and never giving up. On the other hand, sporting events like the Asian Para Games unite athletes together under the same vision and dream. This is the greatness of sport."
Some of the torchbearers will wear bionic artificial limbs to help them complete the relay. It ends on October 22 at the Asian Games main stadium ahead of the opening ceremony.
