China stands ready to strengthen coordination with Egypt and Arab countries to promote a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the question of Palestine at an early date, said Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday.
President Xi made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister of Egypt Mostafa Madbouly in Beijing, following the conclusion of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in the Chinese capital.
China appreciates Egypt's role in cooling the tensions between Palestine and Israel, and supports Egypt's efforts to open humanitarian corridors, said Xi.
The Chinese president stressed that the pressing priority is to secure a ceasefire and an end to hostilities to prevent the conflict from expanding or even getting out of control or causing a worsening humanitarian crisis.
The fundamental way out of the recurring Palestine-Israel conflict lies in implementing the "two-state solution" and establishing an independent State of Palestine, so as to realize the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel, Xi said.
For his part, Madbouly said Egypt and Arab countries highly appreciate China's consistent and fair stance on the Palestine question and look forward to China playing a greater role in resolving the current crisis.

China-Egypt relations
President Xi said that China stands ready to work with Egypt to jointly safeguard international fairness, justice and the common interests of developing countries in order to inject more certainty and stability into the world.
China and Egypt are good friends who cherish the same aspirations and trust each other, said Xi, adding that the countries are also good partners who join hands for common prosperity.
Egypt, along with five other countries, was invited in August to join BRICS, an acronym for an emerging-market group that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
During Thursday's meeting, President Xi extended congratulations to Egypt on its inclusion in the BRICS group, and said its involvement will help inject vitality into the mechanism.
