Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday met with Mozambican Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane in Beijing.
Xi expressed his delight at the fruitful achievements in China-Mozambique Belt and Road cooperation.
China stands ready to work closely with Mozambique and other African nations to jointly propel the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, and to facilitate the effective implementation of three key cooperatives – the Initiative on Supporting Africa's Industrialization, the Plan for China Supporting Africa's Agricultural Modernization and the Plan for China-Africa Cooperation on Talent Development.
China supports Mozambique in safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests and in pursuing a development path that aligns with its national conditions, said Xi.
Both sides aim to deepen cooperation in areas such as energy and agriculture while also promoting exchanges and interactions in education, culture, local affairs and people-to-people exchanges.
Xi noted that China is willing to strengthen communication with Mozambique on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative.
Highly commending China's important role in world peace and stability, Maleiane noted that the Belt and Road Initiative and other crucial proposals, such as the Global Development Initiative proposed by Xi, are conducive to aiding other nations in poverty eradication, economic development and improving people's livelihoods.
Mozambique firmly adheres to the one-China policy, Maleiane said. He added that Mozambique aspires to leverage China's experience in modernization to attain its development objectives more effectively, deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields and build a global community of shared future.
