China's top legislature concludes standing committee session

The Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, concluded its sixth session on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

At the closing meeting, lawmakers voted to adopt the revised Marine Environment Protection Law and the Patriotic Education Law.

Yin Hejun was appointed as minister of science and technology, replacing Wang Zhigang. Lan Foan was appointed as minister of finance, replacing Liu Kun.

Lawmakers also adopted a decision to remove Li Shangfu from his position as Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense. Qin Gang was removed from the post of Chinese state councilor.

Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the closing meeting.
