China and Colombia announced the elevation of bilateral ties to a strategic partnership after Chinese President Xi Jinping met with his Colombian counterpart Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego. Professor Jiang Shixue from the Institute of Global Studies at Shanghai University says that China will invest more in Colombian enterprises and promote trade with the country.
