China's Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong reached the mixed double quarterfinals at the badminton French Open on Thursday, among a total of 11 Chinese shuttlers registered for the event.

The Chinese squad finished their most recent campaign in Denmark with four titles across five events, only missing out on the men's doubles title. Three Chinese men's pairs, though, are now in the draw of the last 16, including Liang Weikeng/Wang Chang, Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi, and He Jiting/Ren Xiangyu.

In the men's singles, Shi Yuqi and Li Shifeng are fighting for berths in the quarterfinal, while Denmark Open men's singles champion Weng Hongyang suffered an early exit in the first round, losing to Malaysian star Lee Zii Jia.

Zheng and Huang, who finished second place behind teammates Huang Dongping and Feng Yanzhe in Denmark, became the first among the Chinese squad to advance to the quarterfinals by defeating Japanese duo Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo 21-19, 21-18 in only 37 minutes, setting up their next match with South Korean duo Choi Solgyu and Kim Wonho.

Shortly after, Li Shifeng downed Lee in a tough 3-set match to remain in the draw, coming back from one set down 17-21, 21-11, 21-12 in 68 minutes. Han Yue advanced in the women's singles event over South Korean Kim Ga-eun 21-12, 21-13, as eight other fixtures of Team China continue on Thursday in the round of 16.
