China's foreign trade has seen recovery in recent months and is expected to maintain good momentum throughout the fourth quarter of the year, Shu Jueting, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said at a press conference on Thursday.
Addressing concerns over China's foreign trade performance in the first three quarters of 2023, Shu Jueting said that global trade has faced downward pressure since the beginning of this year. The foreign trade of other economies such as South Korea and Vietnam has also witnessed significant decline.
In recent months, the upward momentum of the country's foreign trade has become more apparent, she said.
China's foreign trade volume reached 3.74 trillion yuan ($521 billion) in September, reaching a new monthly high this year and registering month-on-month growth for a second consecutive month.
During the press conference, the spokesperson also emphasized that China has always been committed to ensuring the security and stability of the global supply chain, in response to the latest adjustment in graphite export restrictions.
The restrictions were implemented in accordance with the law, without the intention of targeting any specific country or region. Permission will be duly granted for exports that comply with relevant regulations.
