Who could refuse a cool bath in the scorching summer? Definitely not pandas. As inhabitants of the Qinling Mountains in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, giant pandas can withstand coldness but not the heat. The cold water can soothe their itchy skin and help get rid of parasites. But, sometimes, the bath can be too relaxing and they slip into a deep sleep.
The Qinling Mountains host numerous ravines. Ample rainfall feeds streams of all sizes. There are over 200 springs, streamlets, and rivers on both slopes, providing all kinds of natural "bathhouses" for giant pandas and other creatures.
