Kyrgyzstan's capital, Bishkek, is hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's (SCO) 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government on October 25–26. The meeting is important because the globe is witnessing enormous changes and challenges. The meeting should provide a crucial forum for debate and collaboration in an age of changing alliances and geopolitical concerns. Unity, peace, and collaboration are needed now as never before.

The meeting also emphasizes the necessity for autonomous, peaceful growth and rejection of the U.S.-imposed unilateral hegemonic world order. From the Palestine-Israel conflict to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, from geopolitical tensions to climate change, the world needs regional and global cooperation to end wars, crises, and dangers.

The 2001-founded regional platform includes Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, Pakistan, and Iran, representing 40 percent of the world's population. The combined GDP accounts for about 30 percent of all nations, a 13-fold rise since its establishment. 

The organization has become an active, popular multilateral platform as its expansion proves. After Iran joined the SCO this year, many countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Vietnam, and Belarus also expressed intentions to join the organization. The SCO has garnered popularity throughout Asia due to its security and economic cooperation. Many countries in Asia, especially in the Middle East, are registering as conversation partners, observers, and members. With its size and popularity growing, the SCO continues to demonstrate effective regional cooperation where nations find common ground for mutual benefit, and that's disappointing for some hegemonic Westerners.

In this context, China's long-standing beneficial contributions and wisdom have become a guarantee for consolidating all parties' power and fostering the SCO's steady growth. Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Kyrgyzstan on October 24 to attend the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the SCO Member States and visit the country from October 24 to 27 at the invitation of Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Japarov.

In a complicated international environment, regional nations want the SCO to protect their security and development interests more. The SCO can strengthen contacts, and mutual common understandings during Li's visit. The visit emphasizes China's international diplomacy and global responsibility.

Premier Li's attendance at the SCO conference is expected to strengthen cooperation and regional security. China is promoting and implementing a global community of shared future. From promoting high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) development to proposing and implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), China has worked with all relevant parties over the past decade to consolidate greater efforts for lasting peace, create a favorable environment for common security, and inject higher confidence into common development. China has helped create a worldwide society of shared future.

These aspirational concepts allow SCO members to collaborate with China with a long-term vision. Member states can and should work together with China pragmatically through the BRI, GDI, GSI, and GCI frameworks. Meanwhile, as the host country, Kyrgyzstan is anticipated to improve political confidence, bilateral cooperation, and comprehensive strategic partnership with China during Li Qiang's visit.

China has proposed many new cooperation ideas for the SCO, including the Shanghai Spirit, which emphasizes mutual trust, reciprocal benefit, equality, consultations, respect for other cultures, and shared growth.

To create a new international relationship based on mutual respect and win-win collaboration, SCO nations should respect and support each other. State partnership has evolved beyond security to encompass transportation, energy, finance, investment, agriculture, information technology, and sustainable development.

As global leaders convene in Bishkek for the SCO meeting, international relations should grow towards collaboration. This crucial event's talks, debates, and agreements will define regional and worldwide partnerships in the future.
