As the Belt and Road Initiative marks its tenth anniversary, China's Supreme Court is taking steps to strengthen judicial cooperation and promote the rule of law to support its development. The court hosted an international forum in the southeastern city of Quanzhou on Thursday. Feng Yilei has the details.
More than 100 delegates from over ten countries have gathered at an international forum in southeastern China, pooling their expertise to enhance high-quality judicial cooperation.
China says jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative cannot be achieved without the rule of law. To date, the country has signed more than 170 bilateral judicial treaties with 83 countries, and is party to nearly 30 international conventions. Participants agreed to guarantee a fair, orderly and transparent market order.
MUHAMMAD SYARIFUDDIN, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Indonesia "It does not mean necessarily changing the legal system of each country, but rather finding potential points of contact and looking for available solution as options. Of course, various international instruments and best practices are available and tested, such as conventions, treaties and model rules that can be used as references."
Such collaboration stresses the importance of combatting transnational crime, to ensure a secure environment.

And so building up such relationships will help us to forge our way around the very issues that we grapple with on a daily basis in relation to cross border issues, like cyber crimes."
Officials call for innovative approaches to settle international commercial disputes, creating an efficient, convenient and intelligent platform for global trade and investment.

When economic disputes arise, our primary concern is the effectiveness of rights protection.
