Suspect in Maine mass shootings found dead, ending 48-hour manhunt in U.S. state

The suspect wanted for killing 18 people and wounding 13 at a bowling alley and bar in Lewiston, the U.S. state of Maine was found dead on October 27.

Robert Card, the 40-year-old suspect, is believed to have died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, a law enforcement official said. The shooting was the 565th mass shooting to rock the U.S. in 2023. As of October 26, at least 35,275 people have died from gun violence in the U.S. this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
