The death toll has risen to 16 after Israel bombed a house in the southern Gaza Strip city of Khan Younis, Al Jazeera reported, citing a medical source. 

More than 20 people were wounded, the report added. 

Israeli forces waged ground operations against Hamas in Gaza on Sunday in what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the second phase of a three-week-old war aimed at crushing the Palestinian militant group.

Violent clashes also broke out in the West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin, as Israel continues its raids on different areas in the West Bank.
